I can honestly say I've been do blessed with a amazing dad.  He has taught me so much about life by living his well.  Thanks dad, I will never be able to repay you for everything you have done for me! I love you forever!

Floral pants...

For a while I have wanted some floral pants! Florals always remind me of spring when everything is coming to life again.  they are cheerful and they are fun!! I finally found some that were great for their quality and price from The Limited online only.  Here is a photo of them and some additional pants.  Which are your favorite?

Pool time!

Louisiana summer days call for pools!! This is how I like to spend my pool time...eating cherries! Happy Monday!

Snowballs and doughnuts!

I had a super fun date today in New Orleans with my hubby!! We had doughnuts and snowballs...certainly enough sugar to last a while!  The doughnuts came from Blue Dot, I of course had to get the chocolate sprinkle! We arrived too late to try their bacon doughnut and peanut butter and jelly one.  We shopped on Magazine St and I managed to just window shop today!  Before we came home I had to try Hanson's snowball.  I ordered the satsuma with condensed milk! Divine! The tangy and sweet combo was a winner!! 

What's your scent?

My latest craze has been perfumes! I always thought they were nice to have but would rather have bought a pair of shoes or handbag than spend the money on a bottle that sits on my dresser. However, I have come to appreciate learning about the various scents and discovering which ones i love.  I definitely gravitate towards some rather than others. 

Summer scents tend to be floral, fruity, light and airy while fall scents tend to have notes of amber and sandalwood.  They usually are a bit more heavy and dense. 

Marc Jacobs recently was quoted in the WWD as saying "I just feel the ritual of getting dressed and perfuming one's self and applying makeup is part of the joy of fashion and getting dressed."  I think that is what I just discovered. There is something luxurious about spritzing on a heavenly scent or "your" scent to begin your day.  I now know my morning routine isn't complete until I have perfumed myself! Here are some of my favorites! 

Chanel's Poudre - sold exclusively at Saks and Chanel stores. Light, spring like scent.

Roberto Cavaill my newest favorite.  Definitely more of a Fall perfume,it has notes of amber and is a bit heavy.

Flowerbomb - this will always be a favorite, light and beautiful!

How clean is your makeup?!

Let's face it most girls love makeup and I certainly am no exception!!! One of my favorite places is the Saks makeup counter or Sephora, I mean that has to be as close to heaven as a girl can get! Until recently, I didn't think about what I was actually putting on my face as long as it made me look good.  After my mom was diagnosed with cancer though, I began a complete overhaul on what products I used especially those that sat on my skin longer than say a cleanser.  I wanted a pure product without parabens and phthalates.  I was so happy to be introduced to Tarte makeup.  You can find it at Sephora, Ulta and online at tartecosmetics.com.  This is a product line completely void of all of the items I wanted to stay away from!  I was told it is one of the cleanest makeups on the market today.  After researching their process, I believe that.  Alot of their products are made with Amazonian clay which has helped my skin tremendously.  If you wanted to just try 3 products, these are the ones I couldn't live without:

  * Lights, Camera, Action Mascara - I've tried countless tubes of mascara but this is my favorite by a long shot. It goes on so smooth and natural.  It doesn't clump or feel heavy on your lashes and it definitely makes them longer!! This is probably Tarte's best product! If you don't believe me, go look at reviews online.

  * Cheek stains- I have the natural beauty and it is a great color for everyone. I out mine on with a brush.

  * Tinted moisturizer- I love the lightness of this product and it gives you that dewy glow that we all want!!

Lace

Happy Tuesday fashionistas! What are your thoughts about lace? For a while, I was on the fence about this one until I actually tried some lace on! Typically I shied away from dresses like this just because I did not think it looked like me...never again! I fell in love with lace the minute I tried this on, it's feminine, flirty and hey sexy :) without be overtly revealing. What a great date night dress! I encourage you to try this look if you haven't already!

This isn't about fashion, but who doesn't like beautiful flowers?! I'm proud that I actually grew these myself...I haven't always had the greenest of thumbs!

Sweet Summertime!

Today's post is all about summertime! I don't know about you, but this is my favorite time of year! The colors are bright and the fabrics are light. Being from the south, it can get quite warm and the humidity can be stifling, so dressing cool is a necessity.  It took me a while to understand that accessories can really make an outfit come together and stand out in a way that is unique to yourself and style.  I tend to dress on more of the classic side of things but at times if I want to change it up or put a little spice into my outfit, accessories are a great place to start. You do not have to sacrifice your entire outfit but can add a little here and there to come up with a different look.

Hello fellow fashion lovers! For a while blogging has sort of intimidated me, so I'm jumping in and trying to figure this out as I go along. I hope you will join me on my journey!

Currently I teach piano and violin to lots of sweet little students but somehow I picked up the fashion bug along the way!   My dad, George Bass, (http://www.georgebass.com/) owns a high end men's store in the heart of downtown New Orleans.  I like to think that my love of fashion and all things nice comes from him!  As a young girl I would work with him each Christmas wrapping luxurious gifts of cashmere and handmade English shoes for his customers.  (Ok, maybe I still wrap gifts at Christmas, it's just something I haven't been able to give up yet!) His motto "Quality is economy" is forever etched into my mind.  While I cannot afford to go out everyday and buy high end apparel, I've learned to buy the best in quality for my budget right now.  Quality does go a long way whether its with decorating your home or building a timeless closet.
